Waypoints

Description

A glimpse at the most interesting streets, Puerta del Sol, Plaza Mayor, Palacio Real, Templo de Debod and some snacks on the way. Have a look at the waypoints and practical information.

Take it easy, don’t run!

If you like squids, have a sandwich called Bocadillo de calamares at Plaza Mayor. It’s kind of ritual and very staffing so it will keep you fed for the long way. You can find it there even for 2,7 Euro.

At the Templo de Debod there are nice lawns so you can lie down and rest a bit. You will have also nice panorama view from there.

End your route at Bonar de Leon. It’s where local people eat. Have a beer (una jarra = 0,5l for 4 Euro) and enjoy tapas they will be bringing you (e.g. tortilla de patatas, paella, boquerones fritos). If you spend some time there you will get easily two different Spanish tapas.

Practical information

I skipped visiting Palacio Real inside although it's worth it. It's free of charge on Wednesdays for EU citizens. Normal price 8-9 euro.

Between Palacio Real and Templo de Debod you will be passing Plaza de Espana on your right hand. It's worth having a look.
